What is a child's future worth?

Friends, when I look at the future I see little people dreaming, yes the same ones that ride the big Yellow Nano bus. I imagine  that one day one of those little people will build the Nano powered van in my vision below.
My vision, The Toolbox of Ideas is like the power of this venue ( the internet ), it's their brain's. As we fill the box each tool brings new powers as we grow.

Just imagine someone told you that public speaking, is almost as scary as dying?

Imagine someone says you cannot send a message around the world in a nano second?

Imagine a teacher told Albert Einstein's parents he would never amount to anything?

But I think about what Horace Mann said " Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity" .

What if each child knew they could present their idea to the world?  Giving them the confidence with the power of public speaking.  Is that a victory?

For me each victory is teaching a child how public speaking can change their life. As Toastmasters has taught me, now since 2007 each little Toolbox of Ideas that I teach, is a wonderful thing!

Just imagine having fun while experiencing Youth Speaking to America?  See what the students say, or throughout this blog.

One of the most important goals to achieve is overcoming the fear of public speaking.
We are proud to announce YSTA #18

YSTA will give your child the chance
Building a Toolbox

So what is Building a Toolbox?  The toolbox is a metaphor for the brain.  Most of the students you see here and at www.youthspeakingtoamerica.com are between 10 & 11 years old.

When given the opportunity to learn all about public speaking, the students find out how much fun this Toastmaster styled program can be.

As we put new tools in the toolbox, the children find out how public speaking will open doors to the future.

JUST IMAGINE?
  • How many of you had this opportunity at their age?
  • You were preparing for your first big job interview.
  • You were learning about writing and delivering speeches.
  • You were building confidence! Think of your list of mesmerizing speakers? Now think that maybe one day your child could be the 2015  Toastmaster World Champion https://youtu.be/bbz2boNSeL0.
  • Or the next President of the United States, or you just have something special to teach?
  • Or Gandhi, or Toastmaster 2007 World Champion runner-up Rory Vaden https://youtu.be/7hJcXbubLrQ , watch this till the end, it's powerful.
On August 6, we conclude our 2015 Summer Speech Program.  If you live in the St. Petersburg, Florida area, stop in.

The Battle of the Champions

Youth Speaking to America ( YSTA )

Presents
The Battle of the Champions
DATE: 7/22
TIME 10 am - 12pm
LOCATION: Hope Lutheran Church, 1801 62nd ave N., St. Petersburg, Fl.
Parking on 18th St. , look for the Toastmaster sign

The Battle of the Champions contenders

Toastmaster District 84 2015 Champion Mark Gai
Toastmaster District 48 2015  Champion Michael Williams
Toastmaster 2007 World Championship Contestant Jim Bussey
Toastmaster Alvin Bartz
Toastmaster Bill Moravec

Why The Battle of the Champions?  When I met Mark Gai at the Tall Tales contest in Tampa he asked if he could come and speak at St. Petersburg Toastmasters, it was arranged with Jill Witecki our VPE. Then I thought what if he would stay over and speak to my Youth Leadership group the next morning.

Then I thought my students needed a break, because they will have given speeches 3 weeks in a row. I thought it would be a excellent experience for the students to see some of the best Toastmasters we have in action.

With Mark and Michael headed to the World Championships of public speaking, and Jim having already been, this could be a great experience for all.

Now just imagine you're in your 5th week of the Youth Leadership Program, and now you get the opportunity to speak and  judge in a fun contest with trophies and also evaluate a really good speaker.

Everyone is invited just email: york.ysta@gmil.com or 727 455 7337

Thank you
York
